Behind
THE WAY
“God, God, God,” Joshua reiterated to himself, pacing restlessly after stepping through

his front door. The fiery confrontation with Tiffany had unsettled him. Guilt was something he was used to, but this felt different. It wasn’t the typical fleeting feeling of maybe I shouldn’t have acted that way or said those words. The realization struck him hard. All the anger, the reckless behavior, every tear he caused, every promise broken flooded his memory and laid bare before him—as if gift-wrapped, ready to be exchanged for an eternal promise, now within reach.
It had been nearly a year since his first UFC victory had drawn the attention of the Glamour Entertainment supermodel Tiffany Love. Yet, despite his popularity and their fleeting romance, he remained emotionally detached from life. He had been in countless fights and had no shortage of romantic encounters.
Growing up in the city had been tough. He often faced each day with indifference, numbing his feelings with the pleasures of this world.  It all changed that day at the old, rundown, abandoned rec-center. A newcomer with a shaved head, riddled with tattoos and piercings, stepped into the middle of a physical confrontation—ultimately challenging everything Joshua believed.
FACT IN FICTION
Action, humor, and even a clumsy attempt at romance are the vehicles I use to expose human depravity. At its core, the book explores many of the ills facing society today—broken family structures, substance abuse, pornography addiction, aggression & violence, and the resulting consequences thereof. Through the characters of Joshua Nickel, Tiffany Love, and Chris & Katrina Belvu, these hard-core topics are tackled with intense emotional and dramatic energy. Many of the personality traits of the main characters—primarily Tiffany and Joshua—are based on

college research identifying connections between pornography, prostitution, & sex trafficking, the effects of addiction on the brain & the resulting cognitive behavior, as well as attachment formations to things and people. The story ultimately promotes hope, redemption, forgiveness, and the value of positive, & godly role models.
